I've declared this year the year of the maker. That means I'm going to make more time for creating rather than spending all my time thinking about making but not actually doing anything. In early January I bookmarked 9 projects as my #2018makenine, and much to my surprise I've already stitched up two! The first is the Petal Pouch by Noodlehead.
I'm obsessed with everything Anna designs and this pattern was no different. It's simple, yet playful with feminine details and clean finishes. I used a linen fabric picked up on our Christmas trip to Sri Lanka for the outer fabric with a lining from Liberty of London. What started as one zipper pouch quickly turned into seven as I decided what great gifts these would make for my friends and family back in North Carolina!
This pattern is very easy to follow but does have a few more steps than your simple zipper pouch. The curved edge makes adding the zipper slightly more difficult than a straight edge and the eight darts that created the shape of the bottom of the bag get a little daunting when sewing up seven bags. But overall it's a fun make that comes together quickly and is perfect for every day use!
Have you made progress on your #2018makenine? I'd love to hear what you're working on in the comments below!
